Behind the Veil

'Behind the Veil', is a mixed media painting I created to represent the devastation of dementia ~ a cruel disease that slowly steals a person’s identity, memories, and connections. This work includes a poem I wrote, woven into the piece itself, and it is without doubt the most emotional artwork I’ve ever created.

I lost my dad to dementia. But in truth, I began grieving long before he physically left. Dementia took him from us piece by piece, until he was hidden behind a veil of fear, confusion, and sadness. Dementia is a disease that slowly erases the person you love, long before they are gone.

All proceeds from the sale of 'Behind the Veil' will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Society and I’ve also created a series of teabag artworks available on my website to raise further funds.

An original one-of-a-kind 40cm x 40cm painting on box canvas. Using mixed media, including gold leaf, metallic sheets, iridescent paint, polyfiller, real dried flowes and a paper quote. Finished with two layers of satin varnish to seal and preserve the artwork. Lovingly painted in my home studio, signed and ready to hang.

Delivery £6.95 via Royal Mail signed for.
